About Toy:
Originally from Columbus, I moved to Cincinnati to attend UC (Go Bearcats!)
After graduating, I moved to Washington, D.C. for 7 years.
The wifey and I decided to move back to Cincinnati about 2 years ago. Being back, I noticed a lack of Black LGBTQ+ spaces where we can be our authentic selves. It was the biggest thing that I missed about living in D.C.
I wanted to bring the community that I loved so much and recreate that here in Cincinnati. So, I teamed up with @djrah_d to create the space we desire to see.
You can follow my personal account at @hideyofood where you’ll get a peek of my favorite foods, restaurants, and eats! I’m your go to person for any food recommendations and will always point you in the right direction!

About DJ Rah D:
My name is Darrah aka DJ Rah D. I am also the Co founder for The Black Pearl Experience. As you know, LaToya and I are excited to have this event and bring our community what they deserve!
I am originally from Detroit, MI.
I love my City but decided to move 12 years ago to be with my wife.
I moved to Cincinnati in 2009 which was when Bullfishes, The Dock, and Bronze was jumping. I noticed months after moving to Cincinnati that some of those spaces were nonexistent. I grew up in a city that celebrated Black gay Pride, a plethora of gay bars, and even inhabits a Black Gay Park! Because of this, I’m not going to lie, moving to Cincinnati was a culture shock.
A decade plus later, I decided instead of complaining about the lack of Black Queer events, why don’t we do something about it? @hideyofood and I connected and decided to create The Black Pearl Experience.
Support a black, queer, female dj and follow me @djrah_d. You can check out any events I’m featured at, the mixes curated by yours truly or just stop by to show some love.
The Black Pearl Experience is more than just a party. It’s a curated experience with the intent to celebrate US and people like US! Bring your perfectly imperfect self and come as you are!!
